two caveats: first, this is only loosely a rec of “things to do” in tahoe because it is an NYer article-turned-book by John McPhee about the rocks of california. but i offer it because what better way to enjoy tahoe, a land of spectacular rocks, than to know a bit about how they came to be? you can experience either the article version or deep dive with the book. second, i have not actually read either myself yet BUT i ’m willing to go out on a limb with my credibility because i received this rec from my fiancé who thru-hiked the entire PCT and loves this book and is an aficionado of superlative rocks and trees, so he knows what he’s talking about in this realm
